(Washington, D.C.) – The music of St. Croix, Virgin Islands has consistently created a full stir among reggae music lovers since the late 90’s. Releases such as "Yesterday’s News" by Army, "Eastbound – Various Artists," "Unpolished" and "Ras Mek Peace" by Midnite and a host of other releases introduced to the world, the conscience, value and worthiness of the music from this small island. In 2002, Bambu Station added to this stir with its compilation"Talkin’ Roots – Volume I" and has since beckoned California listeners with its assortment of provocative releases and its first California performancec at the 2004 Monterey Bay Reggage Festival.
Since then, Bambu Station has toured and worked profusely at getting their perspective out to the masses performing in small and big venues alike. If you have never attended a Bambu Station show, the atmosphere is almost surreal as it was at the 2005 Sierra Nevada World Music Festival! People really don’t know whether to dance or listen because the band’s songs are that introspective, yet their music so inviting. Songs like "Good Works" and "Only Jah Jah Know" have literally rendered musicians and audiences alike speechless. "House of the Living," "Humanity Bawlin’," and "Eyes of Men" have touched so many, that these songs can be heared everywhere. Jalani Horton, a family mediator by profession says, "We reach out to all, to support what is good and fight against what is bad. In an industry where entertainment is the goal, it ain’t easy doing what we do, but we believe our people, this music, it’s purpose and the legacy of the pioneers that brought it forward is worth fighting for!"
By any estimation, many fans are anxiously awaiting the next album by Bambu Station which is scheduled for release on May 28, 2006. The band will showcase some of these songs on their upcoming tour which begins on Sunday, April 23rd, World Beat Center, San Diego, CA at the Earth Day Festival and lyrics from the album can be read in the POET’s CORNER at http://www.mtneborecords.com/poets_corner.php. If you love roots reggae music, this one is a must. If you love superb songwriting, this one will be a classic! If you love the vibes of the sisters, Bambu Station will introduce a new St. Croix Empress on their new album.
