About Black Judah:
Black Judah is the product of two esteemed artists, Sugar Black and Dylan Judah, who have come together and combined their creative visions, lyrical and vocal talents to develop a conscious yet club friendly dancehall sound for music fans of the world.
Sugar Black, a Jamaican native, discovered his musical passion singing in his school choir as a child. Motivated and extremely talented, he became the youngest apprentice of the Black Star Sound System at age twelve. As Sugar Black grew older, his career evolved. He began recording for Tony Rebel's Flames Production (Garnett Silk, Jah Mason, Ras Shiloh) and released a series of legendary singles including the 1997 #4 UK Billboard hit, 'Oh Jah.' Over the past decade, Sugar Black has consistently been performing and creating music, he has two solo albums; BLACK ATTACK (2000) and SOULJAH STORY (2005), was featured on Time Life Magazines Bob Dylan Rock N' Roll tribute album, and has lent his melodic voice as backup vocals for Reggae greats such as Sizzla Kalonji.
Dylan Judah, the other half of Black Judah is a Los Angeles local, and a prolific singer, song-writer and producer who began his musical career as a young drummer, driving the rhythm of his teenage ska band Caught in the Act (C.I.A.), 1988-1992. During those formative years Dylan traveled and lived in apartheid- era South Africa, and Jamaica on several occasions. From these most influential and eye-opening experiences, Dylan emerged as an impassioned singer, rooted in the Rasta-life. In 1995, he formed the Cannons (1995-2003), with whom he released two well respected independently produced albums THANKS & PRAISE (1999) & LIFE-ELEMENTS-VISION (2002) one of which was honored as best independent album of the year from national Borders Books store chain. Dylan Judah also has a self titled solo album and dub album (2004) he co-produced with famed Jamaican engineer and producer Scientist. Listen to Dylan Judah's lyrics and you will find words of uplifting encouragement based in UNITY, LOVE, TRUTH, RIGHTS, and much more.
Currently signed to Los Angeles based Atomic Records, Black Judah has been hard at work on their debut album "Roots World Order" featuring their number #1 charted hit (HOT 102 Reggae Chart, Stampede Street Charts, RETV, CVM, TVJ “reggae top ten”) 'Mercy Please' as well as tracks with Busy Signal, Elephant Man and Anthony B on riddims from Sizzla's Firehouse Band, Kirk Bennett and worked with Dave Aaron (2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube).
Black Judah is quickly becoming a solid fixture in reggae music, they were nominated for two Excellence in Music (EME) awards in 2008 and currently have three singles in heavy rotation worldwide.
