(Kingston, Jamaica) Dancehall singer Chico has broken in the French market! Earlier this year, Chico recorded the song “Hey Sexy Wow” with Universal France’s recording artist Lord Kossity. Lord Kossity, who’s had previous albums out in France recorded several collaborations with Dancehall artists for his latest album – “Booming System”. It was the song “Hey Sexy Wow” that was declared the first single in France for his new album.
Working together Chico and Lord Kossity broke barriers in France as the song has worked its way up in the charts nationally averaging at the number three position. Playing on all major radio stations in France, “Hey Sexy Wow” has allowed both Chico and Lord Kossity coveted mainstream success.
The film quality video recorded in Paris for “Hey Sexy Wow” has been aiding in visual exposure and recognition for both Chico and Lord Kossity. This high quality video was shot in Paris. Chico has been back and forth to France the last several months to do various radio interviews, radio shows and television appearances. Chico and Kossity have been featured on MTV France, The Morning Time Show, M6 and Hit Machine. The two have also shared stages in France with Sean Paul and Shaggy, the only two other Reggae artists to captivate mainstream France the last few years.
Chico’s own website recently debuted at: http://www.itschico.com. The video for “Hey Sexy Wow” is accessible on the site. Chico’s distinctly recognizable voice has been a favorite among selectors worldwide, particularly in Europe and amongst American’s mixtape DJs who dabble equally in Dancehall and Hip Hop.
Between the traveling from Jamaica to France, Chico has still been in the studios recording songs most recently with; Arif Cooper and Christopher Birch who’s been responsible for popular riddims like the Sexy Lady Riddim, Military Riddim, Cry Baby and more. While songs like “Chemistry” from the Sexy Lady Riddim and “Me Dat” from the Katana Riddim produced by beatmaker Tony “CD” Kelly have still been favored with DJs worldwide, Chico’s preparing for a slew of new releases the next few months.
