Once again reggae has made it on the mainstream, this time it's at Adventure Theater, 20 minutes outside Washignton DC in Glen Echo Park, Maryland (USA).
Cedella Marley, daughter of renowned reggae artist Bob Marley, capitalized on the rich history of Jamaica and reggae in her children's book, “Three Little Birds”. The book. adapted for the stage by Michael J. Bobbitt, surrounds a shy child named Ziggy, and his fear of leaving the safe haven of his room. The story plays on Jamaican folklores as his friend Nansi (which evokes the spirit of the Jamaican 'anansi' figure, a well known trickster) uses her charm to weasel Ziggy out of his comfort zone.
Three Little Birds is playing at Adventure Theater, March 15 – April 14, 2013.
