She seemed to catapult on the scene out of nowhere overnight, shrouded in the midst of deep controversy, her name was on everyone’s lips…but Barbee is more than that, so much more.
Blessed with a beautiful voice, a very sexy figure and a heart of gold this very tall, almost intimidating female artiste is out to make her mark in a positive light on the entertainment scene.
Her grand entrance into the limelight wasn’t the way she thought it would be but Barbee is putting all that behind her and showing the world that she is more than just a pretty face.
She recently released ‘Paddy Cake’ a fun, jazzy single done in combination with Beenie Man and ‘Light Some Candles Tonight’.
The singer has been doing the rounds on the Jamaican circuit to great responses. She recently performed at the Ocho Rios Seafood Festival…whatever reservations she had were quickly dispelled as the crowd’s response quickly showed she had won their hearts!
Faith Jackson Eselebor aka Barbee’s love affair with music started at the tender age of five and like most good singers she honed her talent in the church where she was a choir leader.
Born of a Jamaica mother and a Nigerian father Barbee enjoyed the best of both worlds going to school in Jamaica, US and Nigeria.
After finishing Columbus High School in the States, Barbee went to modeling school, but although she has the figure, poise and talent for it, her love of music is now dominating her career path.
At eighteen, Bar-Bee began performing solo, recording her first single ‘Missing you’ featuring VP Records artiste, Junior Kelly. The single received tremendous airplay throughout the Caribbean, the North Eastern United States, South Florida, Canada as well as Nigeria and West Africa. The music video for ‘Missing You’ received critical acclaim all over the world as well.
Earlier this year Barbee was featured on Beenie Man’s new single and video ‘Give It Up’. The single and video is receiving huge sales and response worldwide and of course it led to their on stage stint at the recently held Sumfest in Montego Bay…the rest is now history where that performance is concerned.
Also earlier this year, the statuesque twenty year old signed with UrbanDisk Records and Frontline Media World Inc., headed by Industry veteran, Will Crittendon. The singer is now enjoying a buzz both in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
Barbee leaves Jamaica this week for Miami where she will be scouting locations for the completion of the Paddy Cake’ video. "It will be a totally fun video, you can’t put it into a genre. There will definitely be something for everyone," the sultry singer shared.
The video which will be shot under the direction of Scuba (who has director videos for Young Jeezy and Fabulous) and should really be something to see. "I will be on my head top doing the ‘Paddy Cake’ dance," Barbee promised. Of course there will be some steamy scenes with the King of the dancehall!
Under the guidance of longtime music man and artiste manager, Will Crittendon, Bar-Bee is determined to keep her focus and show the world just what she is capable of.
