One thing you can say about female singer Ce’Cile – you can’t put her in a mold. She is too versatile, creative and talented for that! Not having a dominant presence on the Jamaican scene last year she has reemerged with a bang.
Listen her lead off single ‘Matadore’ on the EMI Latino/Danger Zone Latino compilation CD ‘Da Matadores’ and she will have you in almost gasping wondering if it is really the bad gyal of dancehall!
‘Matadore’ is the first single released off the compilation album which also feature dancehall heavyweights Buju Banton, Elephant Man and Beenie Man.
The video for the single was shot on location in Santa Domingo and Miami. Already it is being shown in Puerto Rico to warm reception. The video will enjoy its Jamaican premier next week and the only thing we can say is – it is definitely something to look forward to.
‘Matadore’ came about because “EMI wanted to do projects with Jamaican dancehall and Reggaeton artistes from different countries,” Ce’Cile explained.
When they sent her the track she knew it lacked something “a woman’s touch! I wanted to do it from a girl’s perspective,” Ce’Cile shared and it’s a good thing too. Listening to the finished product which she did in combination with Checka, Jomar, and Shadow Blow the only comment to be made is “sell off!”
Another featured song on the compilation CD ‘Da Matadores’ for Ce’Cile is ‘Goody’ remix and according to her they EMI absolutely loves this one. The Compilation CD will enjoy its official release sometime in the month of April.
For now Ce’Cile has enough to keep her fans happy including a hot remake of her song ‘Johnny’ now called ‘Take It Off’ with Jamdown recording artiste Smujji and the equally hot video in rotation both locally and in the United Kingdom. A US album in the works…the classy diva is set to regain her dominant presence in the dancehall.
