Reggae crooner Jah Cure has been driving the ladies crazy these days with some outstanding performances and sexy lovers lyrics…and he’s got lots more in store for his adoring female fans.
The singer was in awesome form on stage the 21st staging of Western Consciousness, as he thrilled the audience with his best, who lapped up every drop of his performance like an oasis in a desert.
Delivering favourites like the number one ‘Longing For’, ‘Mr. Jailer’, ‘Sticky‘ and the hugely popular ‘Call On Me’, the penultimate performer had everyone on a high with his unbridled energy and musical cure in his approximate 45-minute set, with his three backup singers and Antidote band in tow.
Following Western Consciousness, Jah Cure was the man of the night at LifeFest last Saturday, as the Kingston ladies got a rare treat of one of reggae’s greatest love/cultural singers. The closing act made sure to give Kingston a true international set, as it had been years since the capital has seen him in performance…and they loved every minute of it.
Jah Cure hit Western Consciousness fresh from two outstanding performances in Trinidad and Tobago.
In Trinidad, the reggae singer commanded 20,000 strong as he had everyone singing line for line of all his tunes, surprising even him. Tobago was no different. This time the approximate 15,000 that packed the venue made sure to outdo their neighbours, showing that they were even bigger Cure fans. They even knew his new single ‘You’ll Never Find’ on the Don Corleon label, singing it word for word.
Peaking at number 2 last week on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums Chart with his newly released potent ‘The Universal Cure‘, the man who is considered one of the high priests of reggae has a lot to be happy about.
“It is a really good feeling with all that has been happening,” said Jah Cure. “I anticipated this so long ago and now it has come true. This has been years in the making. It feels great and can only get better.”
The charismatic singer said, “It’s good to be free, my spirit is free and I am free to soar to the top. I feel alive again.”
Admitting that ‘The Universal Cure’ is probably his greatest album to date, the singer said he is proud of it and, like the rest of the world, touts it as one of the best reggae albums of the year.
Produced by SoBe Entertainment and Danger Zone Music Group and distributed by Fontana and Universal Music Group, ‘The Universal Cure’ is also topping several international charts and its lead off single ‘Call On Me’ featuring the talented Phyllisia is enjoying massive success.
“Music is my life,” Jah Cure added. “Music is here to cure, it is healing, soothing to the soul, and like my name says, I am here to do just that with my music.”
Fans, especially the ladies, can listen out for a brand new track that will be sure to rock their world. Tentatively titled ‘Love You To The End Of Time’, the soulful single features Jah Cure, Stephen & Damian Marley along with Christopher Ellis (son of Alton Ellis).
“Jah Cure is here for the ladies, they are always at the forefront of everything I do,” said the ladies man. “I am a crooner for the ladies which is evident in lots of my songs. So ladies, Jah Cure is coming at you with another love song, this time with friends. Listen out for ‘Love You To The End Of Time’.”
With his usual charming self, he added with a laugh, “It’s a proven fact that the most ladies come to stage shows when Jah Cure is on it. So to all my ladies, muah, a big kiss and lots of love.”
What is he aiming for these days? “To top the Billboard 100 chart, to sell multi-platinum with ‘The Universal Cure’, to win a Grammy, to tour the universe, to take the universal cure across the world, to keep thrilling my ladies and all my fans out there, especially those who have been giving me crazy calls wanting to see me in their part of the world,” he declared.
The singer hits the Bahamas this weekend for an expected sold out event, which leads into other Caribbean events, as he prepares for a planned European and African tour later in the year.
He closed, “I love what is happening. Thanks to The Almighty, my fans, Danger Zone, SoBe, thanks to everyone. Love to the people for the support and thanks for the strength. Jah Cure is taking the cure to the universe.”
