“Keep On (Game of Life)” by Jamaican singer/songwriter Cezar has recently been awarded 2nd place in the finals of the ISC (International Songwriting Competition) in the category of World Music. The song was entered into the ISC last year in the World Music category since no reggae specific category exists at this time. This is a big achievement, considering over 15,000 submissions were made.
Cezar is a Jamaican singer/songwriter/producer whose sound is a fusion of musical influences that balances his pop and R&B infused vocal style and guitar riffs with hardcore dancehall beats. He was born to musically inclined parents Rupert & Sonia Cunningham, co-founder Ashanti & Bamboo Records (London based reggae labels), and in 2003 Cez returned to Jamaica to fulfill his vision of reggae soul. His first release ‘Sexyways’ on the Greensleeves Records compilation was put into rotation on BBC radio’s reggae & dancehall show in the UK . His lilting ballad ‘Take the Fall’ is now broadcast globally on BETJ.
Cezar has written for other artists such as Tami Chynn, Wayne Marshall and Machel Montano. His fan base continues to grow significantly thanks to having his videos in heavy rotation and performances and appearances at such events as Air Jamaica Jazz n Blues 06, RE High School Tour, Antigua Splash, Temptation Live, RE Unplugged, Negril Spring Break & CVMs Tha Party, Weekenz, Tuesday Nite Live at the Village Café and other local and international shows. Cezar has collaborated with popular producers such as legendary producer Tony Kelly, Steven “Gibbo” Gibbs, Renaissance, Flabba, Master Lee, Gee-Jam studio’s Alborosie, and Grammy nominated producer David Kennedy, with whom “Keep On” was recorded.
