The word out ofJamaicais that even though Reggae Super Star Mackie Conscious was “cut off at the Knees” his set was still wicked!
That just goes to show that no matter; If the time provided is massive or if the time provided is short; if you are a great performer as Mackie Conscious obviously is, you only need a short period of time to LIGHT! up your audience.
In any event I am told by Patrick Robb with Sinai Records Inc. (Mackie’s manager) who traveled all the way from Brooklyn NY, USA to catch Mackie’s performance. Patrick says: “for the length of time Mackie was performing the audience of approximately 15,000 did love him up! Mackie performed songs such as “What If”, “the world is in trouble”,”streets don’t nag me” (counteraction to Tanya Stephens song “These streets”),Should I run” and “Mi nuh lucky” with each song the crowd was singing along. Mackie’s an awesome performer Mackie’s overall enthusiasm came out picture perfect in his stage performance, it’s a guarantee he gave 150% of himself to his audience!”
Quote from Linton Cooper with Supa Records, Florida USA who was also in attendance at Montego Bay’s Reggae Sumfest July 2007.
Linton had the opportunity to meet with Mackie and observe his performance and he says: “Mackie Conscious is a great singer and performer;however he is not getting the credit he deserves; he’s a humble and very positive man and sometimes this causes an Artist to be overlooked”.
Mackie Conscious is known as the conscious one, is always gracious for the invite to perform at the annual Reggae Sumfest events held in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It has been proven over and over again, that if you give him 5 minutes or 30 minutes, Mackie Conscious remains the Reggae Super Star he is and will perform as if he was paid a million dollars Not only did the Sumfest promoters probably get more than what they paid for, the audience was given a double dose of Reggae Roots Perfection by the performance of Montego Bay’s own Reggae Super Star – Mackie Conscious!
Quote from TTGapers.com regarding Mackie Conscious performance July 2007 “Sumfest”: ” While he did not get one of the coveted slots, rising star Mackie Conscious gave a performance that probably only fell short of Sizzla excellent set. Displaying versatility and charisma, the compelling singer quickly made the audience his captive as he opened with, The World In Trouble and followed up with, What If’. http://www.ttgapers.com/Article748.html
