International Reggae Festival will hit the airwaves with its own reggae
show on
CKDG 105.1 FM on June 3rd, and on the Galaxie Network starting May 25,
2004.
CKDG 105.1 FM will feature a special two hour pilot reggae show on June 3rd
from 11pm-1am hosted by Duke Eatmon, known for his work on many Montreal
radio
stations. With the success of the pilot, CKDG will consider scheduling a
permanent weekly reggae show. In accepting the idea for the pilot show,
CKDG
station manager, Marie Griffiths admitted, “I was impressed by the
organization [of the festival].”
Music from the festival will also be featured on Galaxie, the CBC’s
continuous music network. Over the next two weeks, the network’s reggae
channel will
play selections from artists performing in Canada’s first international
reggae.
Galaxie approached festival organizers with the idea which they immediately
took to. “I loved the idea,” said Cezar Brumeanu, the Executive Director
and
Producer of the festival. “This is just another example of how truly
universal
reggae music is.”
The Festival
The Montreal International Reggae Festival takes place this June 4th, 5th,
6th on the Jacques Cartier Pier at the Old Port. The festival boasts a
showcase
of over 100 performers, artists, and reggae superstars and has already
garnered international attention and support.
