(Kingston, Jamaica) Dancehall singer Mr. Easy is launching a new venture; his own label imprint based in Jamaica. A collective effort between Mr. Easy and producer Eloy Darrin, the new label ‘E-2 Muzik’ is being launched with the first release “STRANGEST THING”. This new song is Easy’s own recording and the first release for this Riddim production. “STRANGEST THING” is a more traditional reggae composition with samples taken from Michael Rose. Distribution for the new label, E-2 Muzik, is being handled by In The Streetz Distribution out of Kingston, Jamaica.
“STRANGEST THING” is an exciting release for Mr. Easy whose catalog encompasses recordings containing party tunes, rudebwoy themes and love songs. “Strangest Thing” is a slight departure in content and musically contains a more traditional reggae baseline. Inspired by Junior Gong’s “Welcome to Jamrock” and the desire to record something a little different than the normal releases he’s been known for, Mr. Easy is very excited at the response given to the song so far. “Everyone we’ve played it for really loves it. When I was in Europe and sang it, audiences that never heard it caught immediately and sang along!”.
Mr. Easy has also other new recordings dropping. One anticipated release is “PEEPIN IN MY WINDOW” recorded with the highly esteemed Jamaican production team Steely & Cleve. Keeping in line with the new wave of ‘licking over’ older classic Dancehall tunes, Easy also recorded the upbeat song “CLUB TONIGHT” on the MUDD UP Riddim from Bryon Murrary. This new song is on the Mudd Up compilation released by Greensleeves Records, shipped to retail January 31st, 2006.
Another new release for Mr. Easy is the song “LET IT BE KNOWN” on the Triumphant Riddim. This is the same Riddim track that Gyptian’s popular “Mama” was recorded on. Producer DJ Flava (Kemar McGregor) decided to fill up the track with other recordings due to the success of Gyptian’s song. This compilation was also just released by Greensleeves Records.
Mr. Easy has other new recordings getting ready for release including; “PARTY TIME” from Black Shadow Records’ new BLINK Riddim and “DARK CLOUDS” produced by Bay-C (of TOK) for his Bombrush Muzik’s upcoming BLACK RAIN Riddim.
