
GOOD VIBRATIONS and a full house At The
VP & CMJ “NEW ERA IN ROOTS REGGAE” SHOWCASE
This month during the CMJ Music Marathon, VP Records and CMJ packed NYC’s Canal Room on Oct 16th to showcase the new wave of roots reggae artists who are leading the genre in a fresh direction. The bill included performances by Etana, Duane Stephenson, Tarrus Riley and I-Wayne. The event was well received by all and boasted as one of VP’s best events yet.
Opening act Etana, the natural roots princess and the former back-up singer for Richie Spice, filled the room with positive vibes and her original soulful sound. Then, singer/songwriter Duane Stephenson delivered blissful melodies and poignant words from his debut album From August Town, released September 17th, 2007. Tarrus Riley the breakthrough roots artist for 2007, rocked the crowd performing all his #1 hits fromhis critically-acclaimed release, Parables. I-Wayne, swept the crowd away with enchanting smooth vocals, bold statements and his mystique demeanor. He performed hits from his debut album Lava Ground and gave a taste of some of his new tunes from his eagerly awaited release, Book Of Life, set to hit stores this November 6th, 2007.
