Overview
PAMA INTL
The Jazz Cafe are proud to present UK sensation Pama Intl’s only London spring/summer show for 2007. Last year Pama Intl became the first new band in 30 years to be signed by Trojan Records. The resulting release won critical acclaim from around the world and featured a phoenminal line up of legendary guests; Dennis Alcapone, Rico Rodriguez, Dawn Penn, Derrick Morgan, Winston Francis, AJ Franklin and the first recording from Dave & Ansel Collins since the 1970’s. Pama Intl boast an unstoppable all-star line-up featuring; Lynval Golding (The Specials), Kirk Service & Marli Wright (Lee Perry’s band), Simon Wilcox (Candy Stanton), Fuzz Townshend (PWEI/Bentley Rhythm Ace) and Pama Intl founders Sean Flowerdew and Finny. At the controls the mighty Mannaseh. Live dub, like no other, at it’s finest!
Never ones to stand still, Pama Intl have just launched their own Rockers Revolt label, which has been snapped up by Universal for distribution. The first 10″ is out now, Pama Intl meets Manasseh (RR10-001). This will be followed by two singles over the summer and then Pama Intl’s 5th studio album PAMA INTL LOVE FILLED DUB BAND (October’07). The band are on tour from April-Sept’07 taking in Bestival, Glade, Glastonbury, Eastern Haze and many more festivals and club shows. They will then be back in Oct/Nov’07 for a full national club tour.
THE MAD PROFESSOR DUB SHOW
A true legend. Mad Professor’s own Ariwa label has released over 100 albums since 1981. In addition to his own dub and reggae work, which ranges from political to experimental to downright extraterrestrial, Mad Professor has remixed tracks for massive Attack, KLF, Perry Farrel, Rancid, Depeche Mode, Jamiroquai, a true credit to how far he has spread dub and reggae sounds into other worlds. He continues to release ever-creative interpretations of dub. For tonight’s performance the Ariwa recording studio is taken out on the road, so Professor can perform live re-mixes of classic master tapes from his extensive catalogue. He will be joined by an array of singers and live instrumentation to complete the sound.
