The final chapter in the exciting free concert series Recharge will be held on Saturday, August 9 at the Cable & Wireless Golf Academy in Kingston.
But just before disappointment set in patrons who have gotten used to this gift from Prodigal Son can rest assured that Recharge will be replaced by another exciting event.
Recharge came about through Prodigal Sons desire to do a free show for gospel lovers.
Out of Prodigal Sons disappointment came something that everyone can now enjoy. According to his Manager Rheushaun Frith Prodigal went to a gospel concert and didnt have the entry fee, hence he was turned away and it was then that the DJ made the promise that he would someday host a show where people would not have to worry about money, all they had to do was turn out and enjoy themselves.
Recharge may be free but it is not short on top class performers. It comes with the best of the best from the gospel arena with even a top overseas act thrown in.
Among the gospels acts billed to perform are Prodigal Son, Jason Mighty, DJ Nicholas, Ryan Mark, Murphy, Ryan Berry, JCee, Teena Tamara, Shepherd, Andrene Lewis, Perpetual Praise, Chosen Vessel, New Generations, Kevin Smith and Byron Cage.
Byron Cage began singing gospel music as a teenager. He went on to serve as music director for the New Birth Church in Atlanta and to become a minister of music at Ebenezer AME (African Methodist) Church in Fort Washington, MA.Together with his nine-member vocalist group Purpose, which he formed in the mid-1990s, Cage recorded three live albums of spirituals: Transparent in Your Presence, Dwell Among Us, and The Prince of Praise. He received five Stellar Awards for his 2003 Prince of Praise and received a 2006 Grammy nomination for his 2005 release An Invitation to Worship.
Come August 9 it will be a spiritual feast at the Cable & Wireless Golf Clubits really not to be missed.
