Jamaican dancehall artiste Zayne has shot a video to a song very dear to his heart. “My Hero” was written for his younger brother who was killed in a drive by shooting in Jamaica.
Directed by Karl Durrant for MediaVille Production the “My Hero” video was shot in Olympic Garden in Kingston. According to Zayne, the video is all about “being positive,” as he urges people to stope the violence and negativity.
“My Hero” tells a story. It is a story about family, tragedy and pain. Zayne says “I just could not keep the pain inside so I sing about it.”
Zayne, whose real name is Dwayne Haase and his brother Odain Haase grew up living with their respective mothers and Zayne now regrets that he did not have more time to spend with his younger sibling as he went to school in Florida to further his education. Regardless, he cherishes the times they spent in each other’s company. Sadly, Odain did not get a chance to live his dreams and fulfill his potential.
About his younger brother Zayne says, “he is the most humble person I have ever known in my life. Until this day I ride off his personality and it keeps me going. The way he died is very sad but in life everything happens for a reason and I always tell myself God knows best. Rest in peace.”
