CHICAGO, MAY 2008 – Dedicated to Health Awareness, the 16th staging of the Martin’s International Culture’s four day Annual African/Caribbean International Festival of Life (IFOL), featuring reggae superstars Junior "One blood" Reid, Beenieman, Baby Cham, Gregory Isaacs and more than one hundred other acts, takes place Thursday July 3rd thru Sunday July 6h, 2008, 10:00am to 10:00pm daily, in Washington Park, 55th Street & Cottage Grove Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. Some of the country’s leading communication companies Motorola (www.motorola.com), Sprint (www.sprint.com) and Nextel, along with race cars leading organization NASCAR (www.nascar.com) , joined longtime sponsors NBC 5 CHICAGO and the Chicago Park District, plus Gatling Community Development and Ideal Health as partners in the mega 16th African/Caribbean International Festival of Life (IFOL), July 4th weekend, for an amazing family celebration of "Bringing Nations Together", said IFOL producer Ephraim Martin.
FESTIVAL FUN AND EXCITEMENT- Sprint Racing Experience Simulator
The Sprint racing Experience is a NASCAR racing simulator comprised of four play stations with a movie viewing room. People can race against up to three other players and have a chance to win prizes.
Participants will have the opportunity to be introduced by a video prior to entering the simulators
Up to four (4) individuals will be able to race against themselves
Scoreboards will indicate the top performances by male and female participants
Upon exiting, participants will receive giveaways as well as the opportunity to take their picture with the SNCS Cup
The 16th IFOL will feature two stages, an International and a Gospel/Educational stage, with the best of Reggae, Calypso, Soca, Latin, African, Gospel, Spoken Word, Jazz, Blues, Haitian and other world-beat music.
More than two hundred exhibitors/vendors include thirty-five food vendors with the real Caribbean taste and an International taste will be on hand for patrons to have a fun filled weekend and to take home fine arts, crafts, clothes, jewelry, ceramics and other cultural items from around the world.
Other sponsors for this merry-making weekend include NBC 5 Chicago, The Chicago Park District, Illinois Arts Council (An agency of the state of Illinois), Gatling Community Development, Inc and Ideal Health-Toni Haynes.
Advance daily admission to the festival is only $10 adults before 5:00pm, and $15 after 5:00pm; $5 children under 12 and seniors 65 and older; free to kids 6 and under.
