Reggae is a combination of traditional African rhythms, American rhythm and blues, and Jamaican folk conventions. It is also associated with the religious tradition of Rastafari. Popular reggae artists such as Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff have made reggae music popular throughout America and around the world.

Reggae is an artform of Jamaican people that express themselves through their music. With upbeat rhythm and rhymes, reggae music delivers strong characteristics for dance music. In Jamaica many new styles are more popular including dancehall and ragamuffin. Their mixing techniques influenced hip-hop, drum and bass, and other styles.

The Artists of Reggae

Many popular musicians have derived from the reggae scene. Popular artists such as Peter Tosh, Wayne Wonder, Elephant Man, and Beenie Man. They have made reggae music as popular as it is today. Reggae is the heartbeat of the Caribbean , with a fresh sound of dancehall and hip-hop styles.
