Born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised in one of Jamaica’s ruffest garrison by his grandparents, aunts, mother and father. From a tender age Dre was always the one who was always on the go, he was the one that loved hanging out in the streets with his friends. While hanging with friends Dre developed a love for music “I remember I would get paint pans or anything that could knock as a drum then we started singing to the beat and the little kids would come out enjoying the sweet music of the paint pan”. At the age of nine Dre's grandmother convinced his father to send him to learn to play an instrument, Dre had the choice of choosing an instrument and he choose the piano. Once he started piano lessons that only put the "icing on the cake for him'"
By age eleven Dre was in the studio and wanted to know about making beats and recording artists, this was when his love for being a music producer was developed. Luckily for him he started to hang with the right company at the right time.Dre started singing on the church choir, performing at weddings and concerts, " as long as it had to do with performing I wanted to be a part of it." While in high school Dre started developing his song writing skills “ every day after math class, i would sit with my friend Birdie and we would start singing or rapping"… and he was always the one to say "yo Dre stop singing, write that down , leave that there, put that line at the top, yo the song bad”. That's when Birdie, Dre and John Shop realized that they all wanted to make it big in the music industry, they started calling themselves 3Star Production. But after high school they all went about doing their own thing John Shop migrated to live in Canada where he started working at as a disc jockey for Stainless, Birdie went on to learn sound engineering at a well known studio Taxi own by Sly and Robby, and as for Dre, he started producing and working as an indoor musician at 3D1 Entertainment. Dre started producing tracks with artists from Jamaica like, Turbulance, Anthony B, Anthony Cruz, and Tok. Two years after leaving high school Dre and Birdie teamed up this time for good and created a recording label by the name of Baddest Record. They both started doing major work with the big boys in the music industry like Junior Reid, Elephant man, Bounty killa, Stephen and Damion Jr. Gong Marley, Jah Cure and producers like Baby G and Jam 2 just to name a few.
After a few reality checks and self confidence, Dre started to take his music career as a recording artist seriously. The name "Dre Island" came about because of the wide spread genre of music that he sings and people always say to him, "youth fi a island boy you just fit in perfect in every type of music”. Now welcome to DRE ISLAND, enjoying paradise
