Princess Love, born Princess McLarty in Kintyre, Papine, St. Andrew is a lover of poetry from youthful days. She kept the passion for writing but was hindered by shyness. In her teenage days at Warren Hall High School in Half Way Tree, she did Creative Arts and specialized in poetry and kept writing in her spare time.
Ms. McLarty made the first positive step towards her career when she overcame bashfulness and started performing at the open mike sessions at Tuff Gong compound, 56 Road Kingston in June 2002. She got her first exposure with some popular artistes like Tony Rebel and Mutabaruka being a part of the audience was what she needs to gain self confidence and was approached by a group called Grassroot Society Poetry In Action to join their ensemble. She performed with this group at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus in Kingston and received a good response.
In February, 2003 her recording career began when she did her first recording at the Little House Recording Studio, Passage fort, St. Catherine entitled “Oppression & Frustration” which is now her debut single released on the “Jah Music” production label, on compact disc. She gained even more confidence and satisfaction from this exposure and did another recording in March 2003 at the “Buss Out” recording studio in Cross Roads Kingston entitled “African Freedom” and has gained great inspiration. She is now looking forward to performing at major stage shows with popular artistes to gain further exposure and go to the apex of her career.
Princess Love, an aspiring artist who has the energy to strive for the top and believe that the sky is the limit.
