It is with heavy heart that I bring to you the Reggae community the news that Carl Hall one of Michiana number 1 committed Reggae fans past. Carl born October 2nd 1956 past July 18th. If you do not know Carl by name you would know him as the tall, sender, deadlock African American who was at nearly every Reggae show. This might help you know who I’m talking about, somehow Carl always managed to made it on stage at the Kzoo Island festival. It was two or maybe three years ago that Carl was the only male on stage with maybe 50 female dancing away. He was a foot taller than all the ladies. He Loved Life!
Carl always had a smile on his face and a hug for you when you greeted him, always positive no matter how rough thing were. Often he would sit in playing percussion with Ras SoulJah, Fada Wayne and the High Grade and other local Reggae bands. I feel bless that Carl and I exchanged hug and had a small chat at this past Island festival just 4 weeks before his passing.
It never matter to Carl who the band was, weather local, regional or national, who the promoter was local, regional or national…..he loves Reggae music, no matter who we are or how we are involved with Reggae music we are all committed Reggae fans first and for fore most. With no fans there would be no music! Carl was the icon of a true Reggae fan!
I don’t recall were or when I meant Carl but I sure it was at a Reggae show. I’m better off for knowing him and will miss him dearly.
RIP my friend Carl Hall until we meet again, we need to be prepared to meet our maker as we don’t know how soon that might be? Carl was prepared by the way he lived his daily life and now Carl is in a better place.
