NINJA MAN CELEBRATES ROOTS REGGAE AT HAMMERSTEIN BALLROOM ON JULY 26TH
New York, NY (Ms. Raine Inc.): Adding a dash of classic Dancehall to their Roots Reggae celebration, Friends for Life Promotions, in association with Solar Entertainment, are announcing the addition of Dancehall’s ‘Don Gorgon’ to REGGAE UPRISING: Taking Reggae Back to the Foundation, to be held on July 26th at the world-famous Hammerstein Ballroom on July 26th. Lauded as one of Dancehall’s most wickedly creative lyricists, the ‘Don Gorgon’ Ninja Man will join Morgan Heritage, Richie Spice, Gyptian, Tessanne Chin, and Jamelody as a headliner for the highly-anticipated event.
"A lot of people are probably wondering why we are adding Ninja Man to a show that is specifically celebration Roots Reggae,"says Delroy Carroll of Solar Entertainment. "Ninja Man is one of the pioneers of the style and pattern of modern Dancehall, and one of Jamaica’s most colorful and engaging stage performers. In a celebration about the traditional culture and vibe of Reggae, Ninja Man fits in perfectly."
Friends for Life Promotions’ founder Donovan ‘Crooks’ Johnson, agrees with Carroll that Ninja Man is a welcome addition to the show. Johnson, who grew up in the Reggae cultural Mecca of Trench Town, spending his childhood a few doors down from Roots legend Bob Marley, makes it known that Ninja Man is also a Roots Reggae lover, and welcomed the opportunity to be a part of REGGAE UPRISING.
"Ninja Man is well aware of that this is a celebration of Roots, of the positive and uplifting qualities of Reggae,"states Johnson. "Patrons are not going to face the ‘front teet, gold teet, gun pon teet Don Gorgon’ that they see at a sound clash, they are going to see the creatively versatile Ninja Man that, like many Dancehall artists, grew up listening to Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, Dennis Brown and all of the great Roots entertainers."
REGGAE UPRISING: Taking Reggae Back to the Foundation, will be held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on July 26th.
