Canadian Reggae Sensation Steele will be apart of a stellar line up set to perform at the Birthday Celebration of the legend Peter Tosh. The show, scheduled for Westmoreland Jamaica on October 19th 2007, will also feature other top acts such as the messenger Luciano, Bushman, Eddie Fitzroy,
Everton Blender, Etana and others. When speaking to Mr. Worell King, producer of the event, he expressed his joy in having Steele at this celebration. He also stated how much he enjoyed the music that this artist was bringing forth and was really looking forward to his performance.
Currently, Steele’s song “Slave Driver” enjoys steady radio play, while the music video continues to receive good rotation on the Island’s music channels. Steele’s duet, “What’s Wrong Wid Wi“, with reggae crooner George Nooks has also made an impact in the Jamaican marketplace. With his new cd, “The Love of Jah“, doing extremely well, and winding down a summer that saw him shine at some of Canada’s premiere festivals such as the Montreal International Reggae Festival and the Air Jamaica Day Celebration, Steele is now looking forward to this return performance in Jamaica. His most recent performance was the 2007 staging of the True Juice Rebel Salute, which definitely gained him many new fans.
While on the Island, Steele and Queen Ifrica will also spend some time together to shoot the music video for there smash duet “New World” (remix). The video will once again be done by Fabrikated ProjeX.
When asked what Peter Tosh meant to him as an artist, Steele was quick to respond “His sometimes so-called controversial lyrical content such as (Legalize It) greatly influenced my song writing ability, it taught me different ways of expression, while definitely getting my message across“.
